PHOENIX CONCERT BAND

CHAIRMAN’S ANNUAL REPORT 2012-13

The Phoenix Concert Band meets on Friday evenings at the SCOLA premises in Sutton as an “affiliated” body.

During the past academic year, we held another very successful residential weekend at Wychcroft in January.  We were pleased to be invited to play again in February at Redhill after a break the previous year.  In April we were invited to play at Pevensey Bay and in June we played at Morden Hall.  Our year will end again with the Chipstead Village Flower Show in July.  A small group from the band also gave a short Christmas concert for Sutton senior citizens.

Suggestions for future activities are welcome, particularly concerning opportunities to play at events, as well as social events.

We are fortunate to have a leader of the calibre of Paul, who has done so much to continue to raise the standard of the band.

Thanks are due to our leader, Paul, who has provided us with a mass of attractive new music to play; our treasurer, Neil, for his sound financial stewardship; our secretary, Richard; Roger for maintaining the website (www.phoenixband.org.uk); Penny, our social secretary; and Hannah for helping with the library.

Finally, I should like to thank every member of the band for your regular attendance, without which we would have nothing.
