Lotus Eaters - News 2009
Come and Join us! The Lotus Eaters meet every Wednesday morning between 7.30 and 9.15 and if you would like to take part simply turn up, or see the notice board in the men’s changing room or call the Captain, John Exton. Read More. Lotus Eaters Christmas Lunch and AGM - December 2009.  At the AGM, John Exton was elected as Captain and David Doerr as Vice Captain for 2010. Match against the Club - 17th October  The Lotus Eaters completed their season of matches with a 3/2 win over David Tarbet's Club team. For the first time, a couple of Ladies (Debbie Gills and Susan Becksmith) played for the Club in this annual fixture. A splendid morning, followed by lunch in the Committee Room. Pictures. The Lotus Flower - Annual Medal - 7th October Congratulations to the winner Roy Ridgway with a nett 67 He won on countback from Anthony Rabbetts in second place. .Ladies - Lotus Eater Day - 24th August 2009.
As guests of the ladies, we played stableford pairs format, both scores counting, followed by lunch. The weather was perfect and it was a day for high scores. George Porter and Sandra McClelland won first prize with a phenomenal score of 84 points! (Should we tell the Secretary and get their handicaps adjusted?) Eric Benstead and Pam Oswald came in second with an excellent score of 77 points. Not quite good enough this time however! Our Guest Day - 17th April 2009  Congratulations to Ron Bouttle and guest Richard Evans - winners on the day with 48 points in very difficult conditions. Pictures. Ron, this is becoming a habit! The John Ling Trophy A convincing win in the first round of the Surrey Seniors Club Knock Out on 16th April against Bletchingly at home. 4 matches won and the final match abandoned due to heavy rain. Well Played Team! Not such good news in the second Round however! The match against Wimbledon Common on 20th May was lost 3/2. The match went to the 18th green in the last fourball!
